Locations for Your Wedding in Tuscany: Montalcino

Montalcino is located in Southern Tuscany, at just a few kilometres from Siena, in the famous Val d'Orcia region where the landscape is enchanting thanks to the infinite fields of wheat, olive-trees, sunflowers and rows of grapes.

Founded in the first decades of the 10th century Montalcino had its greatest expansion in the Middle Ages and still preserves the old medieval complex dominated by the magnificent castle dating back to 13th Century: the castle of Montalcino is practically intact keeping the pentagonal plan with towers at the five angles.

Montalcino is a monumental city where prevails the Roman - Gothic architecture and it appears like an untouched jewel of the Tuscan Middle Age: the fortress overlooking the whole town and the defensive walls, the steep stairways and alleys and the municipal palace, with its tower, take back in a fascinating past.

Once important both political and military, owing to its strategic position on the old Francigena Way, Montalcino is today worldwide famous for the production of the Brunello di Montalcino and it is known for the fine Tuscan cuisine with mushrooms, truffles, olive oil and honey.

Civil Ceremonies

The Palazzo Comunale is located in one of the main alley of Montalcino.

It is a 14th century palace which is similar in the Baroque-style to the Town hall of Siena.

The interiors are charming and the wedding hall has large beautiful windows and paintings adorning the walls which make the room full of elegance, romance and grace.

Religious Ceremonies

There are several wonderful Renaissance and Medieval churches in Montalcino for a Catholic ceremony.

Scenic venues like the country villas or castles or abbeys surrounding the village where it is possible to arrange a religious Catholic symbolic ceremony.

The wonderful abbey “Abbazia di Sant'Antimo“ is one of the most beautiful Romanesque monastic churches in existence.
