Locations for Wedding in Tuscany: Montepulciano

Montepulciano has very ancient origins, probably Etruscan and it is placed on a dominating position on the valley between Florence and Siena from where it is possible to admire some of the finest views of the Tuscan countryside of the Val d’Orcia and the Val di Chiana.

The small town has an harmonious look, the result of the work of three famous architects, Sangallo il Vecchio, Vignola and Michelozzo, who enriched the town with wonderful palaces, monuments and churches creating the perfect miniature Renaissance town surrounded by fortifications.

The town of Montepulciano is nowadays known for the picturesque aspect of a pyramid made of redbrick buildings set within a circle of cypresses trees and above all for the production of the famous Vino Nobile, the wonderful red wine produced in the surrounding vineyards and classified among the Italian DOCG wines.

Both inside the town and in the surrounding area there are countless fine Tuscan restaurants, castles and villas which are the perfect setting for a special wedding reception.

Civil Ceremonies

The Town-Hall palace - Palazzo Comunale - dating back to the 13th century is placed in the main square known as Piazza Grande, in front of the cathedral and a lovely cistern. The square sits at the highest point of Montepulciano offering breathtaking views over the entire valley. Thanks to the lovely inside courtyard with a double open gallery the palace is similar in the structure to the “Palazzo della Signoria” in Florence .

Civil wedding ceremonies take place in the impressive and elegant hall with plenty of light coming through the wide windows overlooking the countryside. The wedding hall contains antique paintings and a lovely crystal chandelier. Montepulciano is the perfect setting for a romantic civil ceremony.
