Wedding in Val d'Orcia, SienaThe landscape of the Orcia Valley is made of never-ending hills, torrents, ravines, river banks which get lost in the ash colour of the Crete: the colours of dry clay and golden earth share the hills and the empty spaces together with the spectacular views, give a sense of pleasure and delight which is difficult to describe. The valley is crossed by the ancient Roman road, the Francigena Way and it is still characterized by an agricultural economy based on the natural materials found in this area. The scenery of the Val d'Orcia begins with the symmetry and natural harmony of its soft rolling hills and changes into the luxuriant vegetation of the Amiata mountains.

CASTIGLIONE D'ORCIA
Rocca di TentennanoCastiglione d’Orcia is an ancient town set in the middle of the Val d’Orcia, between Pienza and Montalcino and close to the Cassia way. The landscape of the Crete Senesi - the clay hills - is the quintessential Tuscan with rolling hills and cypress trees. The small medieval town is dominated by the imposing ruins of the Rocca degli Aldobrandeschi, belonging to this rich family until it became a free Municipality in the middle of the 13th century to fell again in the 14th century under the rule of Siena and subsequently of Florence. Worth to be visited is the Rocca of Tentennano in the tiny borough of Rocca d’Orcia, which is one of the most famous fortification in the area. A curiosity of this area are the orchids which bloom in almost all their rare varieties in the meadows and green woods around the town.

The wedding hall is located in the triangular shaped piazza characterized by the geometrical pattern created by the river rocks and the bricks used to pave it and a lovely travertine fountain dating back to 16th century.

SAN QUIRICO D'ORCIA

San Quirico d'Orcia: Horti LeoniniSan Quirico has Etruscans origins as much of this area of Tuscany. The small medieval town is surrounded by ancient walls and dominated by 14 original towers which are still visible although incorporated into other buildings.

After Siena and Arezzo disputed their ownership over the town, it finally came under the possession of Siena and afterwards of the Medici family.

Some of the treasures of San Quirico are the Horti Leonini, a superb example of the Italian geometrical Gardens realized by Diomede Leoni, the civil palace (Palazzo Pretorio) and the Palazzo Chigi which are the most important buildings in San Quirico as well as the Romanesque Collegiata church.

The wedding hall is located in the hearth of the tiny town. The "Palazzo Pretorio" , once the magisterial palace, is very elegant and the walls are festooned with heraldry and flags and wonderful frescoes. The town hall is the perfect venue for an intimate wedding ceremony.

RADICOFANI

Radicofani, Val d'OrciaRadicofani has medieval origins and become one of the most important stronghold of the area for its strategic position between Tuscany and Latium.

After numerous conflicts that devastated its territory finally Florence defeated the Republic of Siena by the army of Cosimo I and the Medici domination lasted up to the beginning of the 18th Century when the Lorena's Dukes came to the power and held the control of the village up to the Unity of Italy in 1861. Every year in May Radicofani holds the "One thousand Miles Race", a parade of ancient cars that goes through Radicofani to reach other towns of Tuscany .
