Getting Married in Montalcino
Montalcino is located in Southern Tuscany, just a few kilometres away from Siena, Montepulciano, San Giovanni D'Asso, Castiglione D'Orcia and San Quirico D'Orcia. The historic town is close enough to Rome to make travel easy from anywhere in the world, whether stopping in Umbria or making your way down to Southern Italy.
Montalcino and the Val d'Orcia region offer an enchanting landscape thanks to vast fields of wheat, olive trees, sunflowers and rows of grape vines. Founded in the beginning of the 10th century, Montalcino had its greatest expansion in the Middle Ages and still boasts an intact, pentagonal shaped 13th century castle with towers at the five corners.
Because of its strategic position on the old Via Francigena Way, it was once a political and military stronghold. Montalcino today is famous worldwide for the production of the incredible red wine Brunello di Montalcino, as well as its fine Tuscan cuisine featuring with mushrooms, truffles, olive oil and honey.
Legal Civil Ceremonies are held at the Town Hall, Palazzo Comunale, located in one of the main alleyways of Montalcino. The Town Hall is a 14th century palace, similar in style to Siena's own Town hall. The interiors are charming and the Wedding Hall is elegant, romantic and graceful, with large windows and paintings adorning the walls.
Legal Religious and Catholic Ceremonies can be celebrated in one of the several wonderful Renaissance and Medieval churches in Montalcino. The wonderful abbey Abbazia di Sant'Antimo is one of the most beautiful Romanesque monastic churches in existence. Scenic venues like Country Villas and Castles surrounding the village are unique settings for Religious Blessings and Symbolic ceremonies.
The whole area offers unique accommodation venues like independent Villas with unique gardens and pools perfect for Wedding Receptions or simply for a relaxing dream vacation. Ancient restored abbeys transformed into Luxury Hotels, plus hundreds small country Relais, B&B and Farmhouses make it possible to go back in time and feel the history of such fascinating places.
